Swingin' jazz live at Blue Note (SK)

Nové Mesto nad Váhom

Blue Note

Authentic hot jazz and swing music that will transport you to another world, get your blood pumping, and take you back to an era of sophistication, elegant gowns, and lively parties. The FATS JAZZ BAND is a nine-piece orchestra that revives the tradition of hot jazz and swing from the 1920s to the 1940s. It was founded by Ladislav Fančovič, one of the best contemporary Slovak pianists. The orchestra plays original arrangements of jazz legends such as Fats Waller, Louis Armstrong, Teddy Wilson, and Peggy Lee, which Fančovič faithfully transcribes from old shellac recordings. In addition to American hits, it also performs Slovak foxtrots and tangos by František Krištof Veselý, as well as Czech film melodies by Inka Zemánková and R. A. Dvorský. The reconstructed historical musical instruments, period costumes, and the orchestra’s overall presentation are in perfect harmony with the era they represent. Despite its, one might say, old-fashioned nature, the orchestra’s sound evokes something timeless in people. The orchestra performs old-time songs, bringing them into the present through its spontaneous interpretation. It is precisely this spontaneity that gave the music of that era its charm, and the Fats Jazz Band will undoubtedly bring that charm to life for you.
