Authentic hot jazz and swing music that will transport you to another world, get your blood pumping, and take you back to an era of sophistication, elegant gowns, and lively parties. The FATS JAZZ BAND is a nine-piece orchestra that revives the tradition of hot jazz and swing from the 1920s to the 1940s. It was founded by Ladislav Fančovič, one of the best contemporary Slovak pianists. The orchestra plays original arrangements of jazz legends such as Fats Waller, Louis Armstrong, Teddy Wilson, and Peggy Lee, which Fančovič faithfully transcribes from old shellac recordings. In addition to American hits, it also performs Slovak foxtrots and tangos by František Krištof Veselý, as well as Czech film melodies by Inka Zemánková and R. A. Dvorský. The reconstructed historical musical instruments, period costumes, and the orchestra’s overall presentation are in perfect harmony with the era they represent. Despite its, one might say, old-fashioned nature, the orchestra’s sound evokes something timeless in people. The orchestra performs old-time songs, bringing them into the present through its spontaneous interpretation. It is precisely this spontaneity that gave the music of that era its charm, and the Fats Jazz Band will undoubtedly bring that charm to life for you. The last music and dance evening of the year already heralds the Christmas season. Even jazz music has embraced this theme, and during the evening you’ll hear a host of wonderful swing songs with Christmas or winter themes. This unforgettable evening in the spirit of the first Czechoslovak Republic will once again be filled with energetic hot jazz and swing music, dancing, delicious treats, and, last but not least, a positive spirit! The swing orchestra 𝑭𝑨𝑻𝑺 𝑱𝑨𝒁𝒁 𝑩𝑨𝑵𝑫, led by Ladislav Fančovič, will perform throughout the evening. As part of the evening, the 𝑩-𝒔𝒘𝒊𝒏𝒈 dance school will hold a dance workshop. You’ll be able to take home a beautiful printed photo from the photo booth as a souvenir. The evening is also intended for those who enjoy sitting back with a glass of wine and homemade treats for those with a sweet tooth while listening to great music. Period attire (1920s to 1940s, i.e., from the Charleston to swing) is welcome, and it’s guaranteed to make you feel like you’re in another century.
