AN EXTRAORDINARY MUSIC OCCASION!
Unique concert of three absolutely stylish music bands, which has not ever happened in our latitudes. Three bands playing the original ragtime, hot-jazz and swing from the period between 1920s and 1940s. Musicians playing on vintage music instruments, charming singers, songs in original arrangements and in addition a lot of positive energy from “New World” brings you on Wednesday 27th august to “V-klub” in Bratislava Michael Arenella & His Dreamland Orchestra (USA), Fats Jazz Band (SK) a Saxophone Syncopators (CZ / SK).
The era between two world wars is in USA called „GOLDEN AGE“, because it was characteristic by great development of science and technology, new inventions, but mostly because of film and entertainment industry boom. Despite the Black Friday on stock market in 1929, a large percentage of unemployment, difficult living conditions and the constant influx of immigrants arriving from Europe to search for better tomorrow, the USA knew how to rejoice. Thanks to the mixing of cultures, a new music – jazz – was created, through which people wanted to forget their worries. Therefore, the sense of euphoria, happiness and lightness of being is encoded in it. On August 27th three exquisite bands will transfer you for a while to legendary Cotton Club in Harlem, where every night different jazz orchestra is playing in the spotlight and beautiful ladies are accompanied by an elegant gentleman.

Michael Arenella & His Dreamland Orchestra is the world’s premier Jazz-Age dance orchestra, steeped in the hot-dance band tradition of the 1920s and early 1930s. Michael Arenella is charismatic trumpeter and singer whose vulnerable baritone has disarming quality in his hands.
The Dreamland orchestra is authentic, Arenella transcribes by hands their entire repertoire from period recordings. Their delivery, as well as their instruments, attire, and equipment - are faithfully accurate.
Though certainly anachronistic, the orchestra’s presence invokes the vibrations of something unmistakably timeless. Arenella takes an antiquated template and infuses it with the immediacy of the present. Spontaneity is what gave the original music of the era its magic, and it is also the imprimatur of The Dreamland Orchestra
His men are dapper dandies; hair pomaded and shoes shined. They are based in New York, which with London were the halcyon capitals of decadence. All of this allows them to capture the essence of what this music and times were all about: joy, romance, modernity and possibility.

FATS JAZZ BAND is the only one of its kind in Slovakia, firstly, by their instrumental occupation and secondly by its closely specified repertoire to which selections are made only from the songs that were originally interpreted by American and Slovak jazz bands in the years between 1925 and 1945.
Nine-member dynamic swing-band FATS JAZZ BAND was initiated by piano virtuoso Ladislav Fanzowitz, and the members of this band are professional musicians and singers active in the Slovak leading orchestras and big bands such as the Slovak Philharmonic, Gustav Brom Big Band, Matúš Jakabčic Big Band, Bratislava Hot Serenaders, CZ - SK Big Band and Orchestra of Slovak National Theatre.
Fats Jazz Bands’ repertoire consist of the best pieces from jazz legends of those times such as Fats Waller, Louis Armstrong, Teddy Wilson, Lester Young, Count Basie, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Tommy Dorsey and others.

Four excellent professional saxophonists fell in love with old time jazz and they started to recover old forgotten recordings of ragtime and early hot jazz originally recorded by four saxophone players between years 1910 - 1920.
